Have you ever planned a night out with friends, expecting to create amazing, lifelong memories, only to experience a tragic and unexpected event? Sadly, that’s exactly what happened for many concertgoers at the recent Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa concert in Camden, NJ on August 5, 2016. Expecting to hang out on the lawn portion of the BB&T Pavilion and enjoy music and time with friends, the night took a tragic turn when, at approximately 10:30 PM, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa moved the show to a smaller stage near the front of the lawn, coaxing the audience to “get up,” when suddenly, the railing separating the lawn from a walkway, ten feet below, gave way.
Suddenly, from the force of the audience pushing forward, an avalanche of bodies tumbled violently into the pit below. Keep in mind, this was not a minor fall. People hurt during this incident may have fallen ten feet onto a concrete walkway. Multiple patrons sustained injuries as mayhem ensued and friends tried desperately to keep others from tumbling to the ground. One concertgoer suffered a serious upper body injury, and multiple others were treated for broken bones.
